Can you imagine growing up in a culture
that believed daughters didn't matter, only the son?
Well, I grew up in such an environment. Basically, I
always felt challenged to go beyond what was expected
and to learn and absorb everything I could. I started
martial arts training at an early age and learned not
only self-discipline and patience but also self-confidence
and the importance of balance. I've pushed myself at
work and my personal life to always go for it and "Just
do it!". Working in the telecom industry for almost
twenty years has been a well-balanced learning experience.
I've been trained on everything from working a keypunch
machine to configuring a router. I have been able to
experience divestiture first hand and to see how the
telecom industry has evolved from just dial tone into
what it is today. With millions of users on the internet,
it's still amazing to me that just twenty years ago
the only piece of equipment on my desk was a calculator
and the only way to talk to someone was through a telephone.
Today, the only way I reach out and touch someone is
through email!
It's fascinating to me that technology
is being developed as fast if not faster than what we
can absorb. The thought of waking up each day and knowing
that there's still plenty to learn is just so exciting
to me that I can't wait to find out what's around the
corner….
